VSCLAB

Introduction

VLSI System and Computation Lab (VSC-LAB) at UCR focus on cutting-edge nanometer VLSI design methodology and design tool development for current and future nanometer System-On-a-Chip VLSI and real-time embeded systems. We address foundamental VLSI design challenges and enable a quantum leap to a new generation of nanometer SoC chip and systems. Our research is sponsored by the federal government agencies, electronic design automation industry, State of California and University of California.

VSCLAB has a 1000 square feet lab space located in the WCH 361. The lab has many Apple iMACs and Dell PCs for students with latest software such as COMSOL, Matlab, and LabView. The VSCLAB current consists of three Linux Servers and one Windows server:  The first one (fermi) has two Intel 22-core E5-2699 CPUs, 320GBmemory, 7.6TB disk. The second server (kepler) has two Intel 16-core E5-2698 Xeon CPUs, 128GBmemory, one Xeon Phi 3120 coprocessor and one Nvidia Titan X GPU , 4TB disk. The third server  (newton) is an Ubuntu server, which has two Intel 8-core E5-2670 Xeon CPUs, 64GBmemory, two GPU cards (one Kepler K40, one Kepler K20). The fourth server (maxwell) is a Window server, which has two Intel Quad-Core E5620(2.4Ghz) CPUs with 36 GBmemory,  1TBhard disk. The server consists of one Tesla S1070 1U card (4 T10 GPUs with 960 cores) and is housed in the server room of BCOE, which has large the server power supply systems. We also have a Windows server (Maxwell) for Windows-only applications.  VSCLAB also has a number of high-performance PCs and iMACs. The MSLAB now hosts five general-purpose graphic unit processor (GPU) cards such as K20, K40 from Nvidia Corporation. VSCLAB also has licensed Cadence Design Tool Suites (Spectra, Spectra RF, UltraSim) and Synopsys design tool suites (Design Compiler and Physical Computers, HSPICE).
